Leadership in EGL is not limited to board positions. Students develop leadership skills through multiple pathways throughout their time in the program.
Serving on the student board or as a committee chair
Participating in Topics in Leadership (TiL)
Mentoring younger students
Leading Volunteer Abroad trips as Site Leads
Organizing cultural, service, and professional events
Engaging with alumni and industry partners
Many students progress from general members to committee roles, board leadership, and eventually alumni leadership through the AAB.
EGL emphasizes leadership as:
Collaboration, not hierarchy
Service, not status
Growth, not perfection
Students learn to lead teams, manage ambiguity, and support one another — skills that translate directly to professional and personal life.
